Express Entry

On January 1, 2015, Citizenship and Immigration Canada (CIC) introduced a new skilled worker permanent residence immigration system called Express Entry. Applicants create an Express Entry profile online which is ranked according to a specific points grid based on age, education, and foreign and Canadian work experience.

You must qualify for one of the following immigrations programs:

  1. The Canadian Experience Class (CEC)
  2. The Federal Skilled Worker Program (FSW)
  3. The Federal Skilled Trades Program (FST)

International Students

If you are interested in studying in Canada or enrolling your children in Canadian schools, you will have to apply for a study permit. Canadian study permits are usually required if the study program exceeds six months in length. Applicants are required to have a Letter of Acceptance from a Canadian school, in addition to proof of adequate financial arrangements for support while in Canada. If you believe you have been wrongly denied a visa, we can represent you in your appeal and/or judicial review.

Foreign Workers

Gaining work experience in Canada can be a valuable asset for those hoping to gain their permanent residency further down the line. If you are interested in moving to Canada, you may work there temporarily by obtaining a work permit. Work permits may be employer-specific, occupation-specific, or entirely open. We can help you determine which type of work permit is applicable to you and help you prepare your application. If you believe you have been wrongly denied a visa, we can represent you in your appeal and/or judicial review.

Visitors

If you are hoping to travel to Canada on business, as a tourist, or to visit family members/ partners/friends, you may apply for a Visitor Visa. Visitor Visas vary in length and purpose and navigating the requisite documents and information involved in the process can be quite difficult. Visas can range from single-entry to multiple-entry to super visas for parents and grandparents. If you believe you have been wrongly denied a visa, we can represent you in your appeal and/or judicial review.

Family Sponsorship

Canadian Citizens or Permanent Residents can sponsor their spouse, common-law partner, conjugal partner, dependent child (including adopted children) or other eligible relatives (such as a parent or grandparent) to become a permanent resident. Financial capacity and proof of relationship will often be required. Sponsorship applications are massive undertakings: they can be time-consuming and complex. We simplify the process for you and your loved ones by assisting with your application and ensuring that it is completed and submitted correctly. Our firm can also help you appeal if you feel your family members have been wrongly rejected.

Caregivers

If you are interested in coming to Canada as a caregiver and have relevant prior experience, there are several paths to becoming a permanent resident in Canada. Family members are eligible to accompany you to Canada under this program.

There are currently two pilot programs available for caregivers: Home Child Care Provider Pilot (caregiving for young children) and Home Support Worker Pilot (caregiving for the elderly or those with mental or physical disabilities). These pilots allow you to come to Canada on work permit and eventually apply for permanent residence. You must meet specific eligibility requirements.

The previous Live-In Caregiver Program is closed to new applicants. However, if you have previous work experience in the program, you may be eligible to apply for permanent residence.

Start-Up Visa

Canada’s Start-up Visa Program aims to help immigrant entrepreneurs who have the skills and financial ability to start businesses in Canada. The objective is that these business ideas or ventures will create jobs for Canadians and have the potential to grow on a global scale.

If you have an innovative business idea, you may be able to immigrate to Canada after seeking investors from one of the designated organizations listed by the Government of Canada.
